My Philosophy

As a birthing doula, I draw on my knowledge, training and experience to provide emotional support, physical comfort and informational support. I will provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, make suggestions as labour progresses and help with relaxation, massage, positions and other techniques for your comfort. I absolutely love helping couples through the birthing process and no two births are ever alike! It is such a privilege and joy to help Moms and Dads through such a sacred event, meeting their needs and navigating the process.

As your doula, I am working directly for you, independent of any other caregiver. I see us all working together as a team to help ensure the best birth, outcomes and birth memories. I enjoy working with both midwives and doctors, at both hospital births and home births. I like to reassure the partner that my role in no way takes away from or replaces the role of the partner. Rather, my presence allows the partner to be involved to his/her own level of comfort and participation in this amazing miracle.

As a postpartum doula, by mothering the mother, I enable the new mother to recover from pregnancy and birth and focus her energy on bonding with her new baby. I will also facilitate the transition to parenthood for both you and your partner by supplying reliable and factual information, reassurance, and hands-on support with the baby, older children and household organization, which includes laundry, cooking & nurturing the full family including cats and dogs etc.
